Equisetum hymale is often thought to increase the bioavailability of calcium in other herbs and foods due to it's natural phytochemical (plant nutrient) silica content. Never use cut and sifted herb with the equine family as it can mechanically damage their intestines (however a tea with the herb strained out is fine).
